(the fees are at the discretion of each individual doula)

Your package includes the following:

Prenatal Support: Unlimited phone contact to discuss the course of your pregnancy, help you form questions for your healthcare provider, calm any anxieties, and suggest ways to keep you comfortable during those last couple of weeks!

Private Prenatal Meetings in Your Home:  Our doulas will visit you to get to know you and to discuss your birth expectations.  If you would like assistance in preparing a "birth plan", our doulas can help.  The first visit is simply a "Get-To-Know-You meeting and we discuss how we will work together, and your expectations.

Rehearsal for Birth:  During a prenatal visit, our doulas will give you a crash course in childbirth preparation.  (This is not meant to replace a conventional 6-8 week childbirth preparatory series. We recommend that you attend a childbirth course with your partner, if possible!)  We will concentrate on the signs of labor, stages of labor, comfort measures, possible procedures and interventions, and when to call the doctor/doula, based on your needs. She may also offer preliminary breastfeeding instruction.

Continuous,  Labor Support:  When you go into labor and are ready for support, your doula will be there.  She will meet you at your hospital, birthing center, or home.  She will provide physical, emotional, and informational support to you and your partner during labor and birth, help and advice on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, massage and positioning; assistance in gathering information about the course of your labor and your options; continuous emotional reassurance and comfort;  comfort measures for pain relief, and assistance to partners who want to play an active support role help so you have a more satisfactory birth experience as you've defined it.

Breastfeeding Support:  If you have chosen to breastfeed your baby, your doula will assist you in the basics of breastfeeding immediately after birth.  She will stay for about an hour after the birth to make sure you are comfortable and settled.

Postpartum Followup:  Based on your needs, your doula will followup with you at your request in the weeks following the birth of your baby to answer any questions about the birth, breastfeeding, or your postpartum recovery.   She may also offer lactation support or give you referral to an area lactation consultation.

Methods of Payment:

We feel every woman deserves a doula.  As a result, we have made it as easy as possible for every woman to have a doula!  We accept cash, money orders, and personal checks  For special circumstances, we can prepare a payment plan.  Please talk to us before you decide a doula is NOT for you because of financial concerns!

Payment plans can be arranged with full payment expected before the estimated due date.  To reserve your doula, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required at time of contract signing.  Your balance for services will then be split over the months remaining in your pregnancy.

Sue also offers Pay Pal so you can pay with your charge card!
Insurance Reimbursement:

Currently, some insurance companies will reimburse for doula services. However, most will not.  We have a plan of action to assist you in recovering the cost of a doula, but we can not guarantee your insurance company will reimburse you.  We will do everything we can to assist your reimbursement including a receipt, a letter written on your behalf outlining the benefits and services you received with a doula, as well as a published study showing the beneficial use of doulas.  You will receive your insurance paperwork within one week of your delivery as your insurance company will NOT reimburse you before your baby is born.
